Ziel der seit dem Studienjahr 2001/02 alle zwei Semester ausgeschriebenen Kurt-David-Brühl-Gastprofessur für Jüdische Studien ist die Vermittlung von jüdischer Kultur und Geschichte sowie die Behandlung von ausgewählten Spezialthemen in Seminaren. Die Lehrveranstaltungen der Kurt-David-Brühl-Gastprofessur sind Bestandteil des Joint-Degree-Masterstudiums „Jüdische Studien – Geschichte jüdischer Kulturen“ und werden zudem in weitere kultur- und geisteswissenschaftliche Studien der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz integriert. Durch die Gastprofessur soll das Lehrangebot im Bereich der Jüdischen Studien an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz erweitert werden. Die Gastprofessur umfasst insgesamt 6 Semesterwochenstunden Lehre, wovon 2 Semesterwochenstunden in Form einer Vorlesung und 4 Semesterwochenstunden in Seminaren abzuhalten sind. Eine der Lehrveranstaltungen ist in Englisch abzuhalten und ist Teil einer Kooperation mit der Bar Ilan Universität.Die Kurt-David-Brühl-Gastprofessur für Jüdische Studien ist kulturwissenschaftlich ausgerichtet und steht daher explizit BewerberInnen unterschiedlicher wissenschaftlicher Disziplinen offen. Ein thematischer Schwerpunkt soll auf den mannigfaltigen jüdischen und nichtjüdischen Wechselbeziehungen und Interaktionen vom 19. Jahrhundert bis zum 21. Jahrhundert liegen.
Die Anwesenheit in Graz während des Studienbetriebs wird erwartet.

- 6 Semesterwochenstunden Lehre (2 Semesterwochenstunden als Vorlesung und 4 Semesterwochenstunden in Seminaren); teilweise auf Englisch als Teil einer Kooperation mit der Bar Ilan Universität

- Eine der Verwendung entsprechende abgeschlossene inländische oder gleichwertige ausländische Hochschulbildung (Doktorat)
- Hervorragende einschlägige wissenschaftliche Qualifikation in Forschung und Lehre
- Pädagogische und didaktische Eignung
- Facheinschlägige Auslandserfahrung
- Interesse an weiterführenden Kooperationen mit dem Centrum für Jüdische Studien (wünschenswert)
- Kompetenz im Bereich Gender Mainstreaming
- ausgezeichnete Englisch Kenntnisse

Es wird ein das kollektivvertragliche Mindestentgelt übersteigendes Gehalt in der Höhe von monatlich EUR 3.612,86 brutto geboten.

The Kurt-David-Brühl Guest Professorship for Jewish Studies was initiated in the academic year 2001/02 with the purpose of teaching the foundations of Jewish History and Culture and approaching specific topics in specialized courses. The courses taught by the Kurt-David-Brühl Guest Professor are integral part of the Joint Master’s Programme „Jewish Studies – History of Jewish Cultures“ and also feed into other curricula of the School of Humanities at the University of Graz. The purpose of the guest professorship is to expand the number of courses offered in the field of Jewish Studies at the University of Graz. The teaching load is 6 hours per week, two of which are to be taught as a specialized lecture, the other 4 as seminars. One lecture has to be taught in English as part of the cooperation with the University of Bar Ilan. The Kurt-David-Brühl Guest Professorship for Jewish Studies is a position in the field of cultural studies and is thus open for applicants from a broad range of scholarly disciplines. A thematic focus is put on Jewish and non-Jewish, Jewish and Christian or Muslim relations/interactions during the 19th and 21st century.
The guest professor would be expected to be present in Graz during the semester.
