Jewish Studies - History of Jewish Cultures (Joint Master of the University of Graz together with the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien Heidelberg)
The two-year Joint Master's program Jewish Studies - History of Jewish Cultures is a humanities and cultural studies program that deals with the diverse forms and changes of Jewish life in the past and present. The course focuses on the culture, religion, literature and history of Judaism since the Enlightenment, paying particular attention to the processes of cultural, political and social change in Europe.
Particular emphasis is placed on inter- and transcultural relationships between Jewish and non-Jewish social groups, on identity formation processes and on self-perceptions and perceptions of the various Jewish societies in Europe.
Thanks to the cooperation between the University of Graz and the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies, students have access to a comprehensive interdisciplinary range of courses at both university locations.
Target group: The target group is graduates with a bachelor's/bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in humanities, cultural studies or theology, e.g. in Jewish studies, history, German studies, other literary studies, theology, religious studies, Islamic studies, philosophy, cultural studies, gender studies, art history, social sciences.
