Kurt David Brühl Visiting Professorship

Kurt David Brühl (1929-2014) was President of the Jewish Community in Graz for many years and Honorary Consul of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the federal states of Carinthia and Styria. He was associated with the University for many years, for example by awarding scholarships for stays in England and through his work in the David Herzog Fund. In 1999, Brühl was awarded honorary citizenship of the University of Graz.

In the 2001/02 academic year, the Kurt Brühl Visiting Professorship for Jewish Studies was established. The professorship, named after the long-standing president of the Jewish Community of Styria and benefactor, is filled every two semesters and focuses on history, literature and cultural studies. It is explicitly open to applicants from various academic disciplines.

The current visiting professor is Dr. Karin Neuburger Twito.
