Certified focus

Certificate in Jewish Studies - History of Jewish Cultures

Jewish Studies - History of Jewish Cultures

The subject of the certificate is the culture, religion, literature and history of Judaism since the European Enlightenment, with a focus on cultural, political, religious and social transformation processes. Of particular interest are the diverse forms and the transformation of Jewish lifeworlds in the past and present, taking into account inter- and transcultural processes between Jewish and non-Jewish social groups, identity formation processes and perceptions of self and others in the various Jewish societies.

Based on the study of changing Jewish lifeworlds, the aim is to gain insights into the analysis and understanding of cultural and religious transformation processes in contemporary migration societies.

In order to do justice to the complexity of these topics, the certified specialization is designed to be interdisciplinary.

Two students take notes in the lecture hall and symbolize the Jewish Studies certificate {f:if(condition: 'Uni Graz/Kanizaj', then: '©Uni Graz/Kanizaj')}
